NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — The New York City Department of Sanitation has announced that trash, curbside composting, and recycling collection will be suspended on Memorial Day.

New York City residents who normally have their trash, curbside compost or recycling collected on Mondays should put their material at the curb Monday evening so it can be collected beginning on Tuesday, according to the Department of Sanitation.

The Department of Sanitation warned that some residents may experience collection delays due to a backlog of material after the holiday.
