MALONE, N.Y. (WCAX) – A bat tested positive for rabies in Franklin County, New York, marking the county’s first rabies case of the year.
Franklin County Public Health officials said it was found in the town of Moria earlier this month, and the test was confirmed Thursday.
The agency is reminding residents to keep their pets up to date on their rabies vaccinations, report any animal bites, and not touch wild animals.
The county offers free rabies clinics from now through October.
