NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Free childcare offers went out to New York City families this week, as Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced additional 3-K seats. But despite all the attention on child care, applications were down this year.
Emmy Liss, Executive Director of the Office of Child Care and Early Childhood Education, joined PIX on Politics with Dan Mannarino about the expansion of childcare programs — and why applications would be down.

Liss said it’s important to have the seats available as the administration tries to get the message out to more people. She attributed some of the application drop-off to families losing confidence in the program.
