A teenager was killed and another was critically injured while they were subway surfing on a Brooklyn-bound train, according to a law enforcement source.
Four teens were said to be attempting the incredibly dangerous stunt Friday night, when may have fallen off the train on Delancey Street and Baruch Drive on the Lower East Side, the law enforcement source told NBC New York. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A second teen, who was celebrating his 18th birthday, fell onto the tracks as well. He was was to be in critical condition, the source said.
The other two teens believed to be with them ran away and had not been found, according to the law enforcement source.
The incident disrupted service on multiple lines Friday night, with no J trains between Broad Street and Marcy Avenue, and no M trains between Essex Street and Marcy Avenue.
