One adult and one child have been displaced after a fire broke out at their home in Gabriels late Friday night.The fire happened at 11:50 p.m., according to the Paul Smiths-Gabriels Fire Department. Crews were dispatched to State Route 86 near the old diner. When they arrived, smoke and fire were coming from the end of the building. All occupants got out of the house safely. No injuries were reported.A water supply was established at Camp Gabriels to fill tankers. Crews used about 10,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire, and it was under control by 1 a.m. Saturday. All units were clear of the scene at 2:19 a.m.Volunteers from the northeastern New York chapter of the Red Cross said two people — one adult and one 7-year-old child — required emergency aid as a result of the fire. The cause has not been determined at this time.
