Interstate 87 exit in Northern New York to close for bridge work

LEWIS, N.Y. (WCAX) – A traffic alert for drivers in New York’s North Country: Exit 32 northbound on Interstate 87 in Lewis is set to close Tuesday at 8 a.m. for a bridge replacement.

The exit is expected to be closed for more than a week, with reopening planned for Friday, June 5.

The adjoining rest area ramp and rest area will also close. That will be shut down until November.

There are signs up for detours. Detoured drivers can use Exit 31, State Route 9N, U.S. Route 9 and State Route 22. Alternatively, they can use Exit 33, State Route 9 and County Route 12. Motorists should expect delays.

The southbound exit is not affected.
