Mayor Zohran Mamdani unveiled a new plan aimed at tackling New York City’s housing crisis Tuesday, saying during an interview with NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” that New Yorkers “can expect the city is putting forward the most ambitious plan for affordable housing the city has ever seen.”
The plan, “Block by Block,” looks to deliver on a key campaign pledge of the mayor’s: building 200,000 new affordable homes and preserving another 200,000 over the next decade.
It also includes overhauling the city’s response to tenant complaints, as well as an investment in the city’s Public Housing Authority.
“All of this while investing in tenants across the city, ensuring that code enforcement is not seen as a suggestion but rather as a requirement,” the mayor added.
