The Shed, Manhattan’s Far West Side venue for art, artists, and thinkers since 2019, is hosting Hidden Treasures, an exclusive exhibition on French luxury. Here, from May 26 to May 31 at the Bloomberg Building, Comité Colbert showcases 250 years of Franco-American stories in a spectacular archival display that brings together more than 65 luxury houses and cultural institutions in celebration of friendship between the U.S. and France. Each of the Maisons is represented via artifacts that tell their unique stories of sumptuousness and cultural dialogue that helped shape diplomacy, identity, and popular culture.
This multi-day event is in keeping with The Shed’s overriding mission. According to theshed.org, “The Shed has grown New York’s cultural landscape by supporting established and emerging artists who are advancing art forms and by collaborating with like-minded partners, cultural peers, and community organizations. Producing and welcoming innovative art and ideas, The Shed’s ever-evolving program has included immersive experiences, groundbreaking theater, major visual art exhibitions, pop and classical music concerts, and more.”
Focusing on such themes as fashion, gastronomy, design, fragrance, and jewelry, visitors at The Shed are invited this week to experience French luxury as an evolving force that continues to inspire connection, innovation, and shared imagination. Among the 65 brands and institutions invited are renowned luxury houses such as Cartier, Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, S. T. Dupont, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Among the cultural institutions represented are the Musée du Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and the Château de Versailles.
S. T. Dupont
S. T. Dupont, known worldwide for its luxury accessories including lighters and pens, is featured as is its connection to First Lady Jackie Kennedy, a devoted Francophile. André Malraux, French Minister of Cultural Affairs, gifted her a black lacquer S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 lighter, adorned with a discreet “J” in yellow gold during her early time at the White House. She was so enthralled by the gift that she requested a matching ballpoint pen, and these pieces remain part of her legacy. S.T. alongside contemporary interpretations as part of this exhibition.
Interestingly, her S.T. Dupont lighter was loaned to Executive Producer Ryan Murphy’s TV series Love Story [2026] for the portrayal of Jackie Kennedy by Naomi Watts. The original piece was incorporated in the series to accurately capture Mrs. Kennedy’s signature style and treasured daily essentials.
Just last year, S. T. Dupont debuted an updated version of the original ballpoint in her honor, a new Classique pen. This 2025 rendition was reimagined in a slightly thicker style, with an ergonomic design and a solid brass base that lends heft. The made-in-France writing instrument is available in various styles, accented with S. T. Dupont’s renowned lacquer work, signature guilloche and articulated clip.

Comité Colbert was founded in 1954 by Jean-Jacques Guerlain, son of French perfumer Jacques Guerlain.[1] The association has more than one hundred members, most of which are French companies in the luxury goods industry. Hidden Treasures, 250 Years of Franco-American Luxury Stories is organized in partnership with Villa Albertine, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, JCDecaux, WWD, The Wall Street Journal, and ISG Luxury Program.
