Just in case Brooklyn Beckham — or anyone else — missed the memo, Victoria Beckham is doubling down on her denial that she is “forcing” her kids to do anything they don’t want to do.
Victoria, who shares kids Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, with husband David Beckham, recently slammed her eldest son’s claims that she is “controlling” in a new interview. (And this is the second time this month she has addressed this.)

In a May 27 interview with The Times, the fashion designer revealed that she is nothing but supportive of her kids. “There’s a big difference between supporting children with what they want to do and forcing them,” she said, adding, “All we’ve ever done with any of the children is support them, help them and encourage them.”
She praised her kids “passion and their sense of purpose,” and went on to say that her and David want them to do whatever they want in life. “The three boys used to play football and one by one they decided it wasn’t for them and that’s okay, whatever makes them happy,” she said. Victoria added, “I just want them to feel fulfilled.”
This is similar to what she said in a May 5 episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast. “I think that it’s very different parenting adult children to parenting smaller children,” Victoria said at the time. “I’m just trying to do the best that I can.”

“We don’t put any pressure on our kids, we just want them to do what they love and to work hard and to be happy,” Victoria went on, adding, “Being very close is really, really important to us.” Elsewhere, she said, “It’s never about being pushy or forcing. It’s being there to support.”
This message, and the one she said in today’s interview, both contradict Brooklyn’s claims about how his parents treat him. Brooklyn has had a rift with his parents for years, going on the record on a January 19 Instagram story that his parents “controlled narratives” about him for his “entire life.”
He went on to say, “The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.” Later, he added, “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. … [Now] I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.”
So far, he has not responded to either one of his mom’s latest comments.
