THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – The Bronx has a new resident.

The Bronx Zoo welcomed a new foal to its herd last month.

The foal, an endangered Przewalski’s horse, can now be seen at the zoo’s Wild Asia Monorail exhibit.

Przewalski’s horses, often referred to as the Mongolian wild horse, are stockier than domestic horses. They have shorter legs, and their sandy or grayish-yellow hue is often referred to as a dun coat.

Now, New Yorkers and tourists can see the endangered species reintroduced via breeding programs and reintroduction efforts at the zoo.

The Bronx Zoo is typically open Monday through Friday, 10:00 am – 5:00 p.m., and on the weekends, 10:00 am – 5:30 p.m.
