A 100-year-old World War II veteran was honored at the New York State House on Tuesday. Witherbee native John Neggia was nominated by Sen. Dan Stec for the Veterans Hall of Fame. Neggia served as a rifleman in the U.S. Army during World War II, acting as a point man under General George S. Patton’s Third Army in the European Theater. He was honorably discharged after the war in 1946. Stec said it was a privilege to select Neggia as his honoree and thanked him for his service to the United States.
