BROOKLYN HEIGHTS – THE BROOKLYN HEIGHTS Community Fridge has found a new home, and organizers are hosting a launch party to celebrate this weekend, according to the Brooklyn Heights Blog.
Established in 2021 outside of the First Presbyterian Church on Henry Street to help Brooklynites struggling during the pandemic, the fridge began looking for a new home over the winter, after the driveway its green shed was situated in front of became active again. Volunteers helped scout out a spot at the church building across the street, shared by Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the new Christ the King congregation.
The fridge is already open for donations. The grand reopening, on Sunday, May 31, from 1-3 p.m., will feature refreshments, music, information about more volunteer opportunities and a donation drive for Christ the King’s planned family pantry; the church is seeking diapers, baby wipes, formula and other supplies for young children.
