New York State Police say they issued 11,104 tickets during the Memorial Day Weekend enforcement campaign.

The enforcement period ran from Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25, and included sobriety checkpoints and additional DWI patrols. During that time, troopers arrested 211 people for DWI and investigated 693 crashes, four of which were fatal.

Across the state, the following tickets were issued:
Distracted Driving — 338
Seatbelt violations — 1,742
In Western New York, troopers arrested six people for DWI and issued the following tickets:
Districted Driving — 28
Child Restraint and Seat Belt — 206
During last year’s campaign, troopers issued 12,062 tickets and arrested 245 people for DWI.
