FORT DODGE
Brooklyn Stutzman, a Mid-Prairie junior, posted her best-ever state finish and the Golden Hawks punched out another Top 10 finish in the Iowa 2A Cross Country Championships on Friday in Fort Dodge.
Stutzman, an eighth-place finisher last year when the Golden Hawks won their sixth state team title in eight years, came in seventh Friday with a time of 19:20.1.
Stutzman, finishing strongly on a cold and windy morning, concluded a season that included a win in the district meet last week in Iowa City and an Elite All-River Valley Conference selection at the league meet.
Rachel Hostetler, a sophomore, finished 34th with a time of 20:44.6. She was followed by Rebekah Wallington in 53rd place, moving up 44 spots from last year, and Kyrie Poll, a junior, in 93rd place.
Rounding out Mid-Prairie’s team was Tessa Brokaw, 106th place; Hannah Rodgers, 113th; and Nikkari Poll, 118th.
McKenna Montgomery of Albia won the individual title with a runaway time of 18:20.7. Treynor won the team title with 121 points, 82 ahead of Mid-Prairie.
Max Swartzentruber, a Mid-Prairie junior, finished 59th in the boys race with a time of 17:43.4.
