The bridge serves as a link between the east and west sides of the Southeast Portland neighborhood, which also spans the Union Pacific Brooklyn train yard.
“It’s just a lovely bridge. It’s very simple, but very sweet. People think it’s a very modest bridge, which it is. It ties our community together. It provides a great way to get across the train tracks,” said Rion Lyle, an organizer for the event.
The party, in which participants walked the span of the bridge, was a celebration of the new name and Brooklyn Neighborhood pride.
