Safe and Sound the Musical will receive a reading in NYC as part of the New York Theater Festival, running for three performances on June 16-20 at Teatro LATEA.

The musical from co-creators Holly Block and Elizabeth Jerjian is a unique blend of pop and contemporary songs performed in tandem with “sound healing” using Reiki techniques, offering audiences a theatrical experience that will deliver both an enlightening story, as well as acoustic vibrations that can have soothing effects on the body and mind. “Not only is it healing for us, but for people experiencing the show,” says Jerjian in a statement.

With direction by Lauren Shields, the musical follows Love, a character guiding three people—a soldier, an ambitious woman in her mid-20s, and a young LGBTQIA+ man trying to make it as a doctor—back home to who they really are by reconnecting them to their inner child.

The cast will be led by Holly Block as Love, also featuring Ryan Doyle, Coleman Cummings, Gabbie Sansone, Mackenzie Mercer, Scarlett Jade Gleason, Alejandro Kristensen, Armis Gjevukaj, Anthony Shepard, Brendan Wallace Downey, Melania Vasquez, Grace Bobber, Hollyn Gayle, and Megan Leung.

Two songs from the show have already been released on streaming platforms, with “What Now?” being covered by = Natalie Weiss. Click here to watch on YouTube.
