Brooklyn Park police search for carjacking suspect
Brooklyn Park police are searching for a suspect after an attempted carjacking just before midnight on Sunday night.
Investigators say that the victim was attacked from behind and pistol-whipped but the man was able to get away with his car keys.
“Well I feel like he was gonna shoot me. So I blacked out when he hit me with the pistol, I don’t know which way I ran to, so all I see is when I was blacked out I see the light, the car and I just took off,” the victim said.
The victim said he was taken to the hospital where he was treated for lacerations to his face and the back of his head.
According to police, the attempted carjacking comes as Minneapolis police have seen a nearly 28% spike in car thefts this year.
