Philanthropist, author, and television host Jean Shafiroff welcomed supporters, community leaders, and friends to her New York City home for a special reception benefiting the Southampton History Museum and its upcoming Halsey House Gala, one of the Hamptons’ most anticipated summer fundraising events.
The gathering served as a preview for the annual gala, which will take place on July 3 at the historic Halsey House & Garden in Southampton. Shafiroff will co-chair the event alongside Mary Slattery as supporters come together to celebrate local history and help preserve one of New York State‘s most treasured historic sites.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and conversation while learning more about the museum’s mission to preserve and share Southampton’s rich cultural heritage. The evening highlighted the importance of historic preservation and the role philanthropic support plays in maintaining significant landmarks for future generations.
A special moment of the evening came when former New York State Assemblyman Jerry Kremer presented New York State Assembly Citations to both Jean Shafiroff and Southampton History Museum Executive Director Sarah Kautz in recognition of their contributions to preserving local history and supporting community initiatives.
The upcoming Halsey House Gala will be particularly meaningful as it coincides with the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration. Organizers are planning an evening featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a raw bar, live music, and festivities on the grounds of the historic property, which is recognized as one of the oldest dwellings in New York State.
Shafiroff, widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading philanthropists, used the evening to emphasize the importance of supporting organizations dedicated to preserving history and educating future generations.
The reception attracted an impressive roster of guests from the worlds of philanthropy, fashion, and society. Attendees included fashion designers Frederick Anderson, Kobi Halperin, Malan Breton, Victor dE Souza, Maurizio Mauro, and Ron Dyce. Also in attendance were Sarah Kautz, Mary Slattery, Marc Rosen, Jerry and Suzan Kremer, Patrick McMullan, Marilyn Kirschner, Alex Hamer, Margo Langenberg, and Averitt Buttrey.
The Southampton History Museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the area’s history through exhibitions, educational programming, collections, and historic sites. Through events like the Halsey House Gala, the organization continues its efforts to connect residents and visitors with the stories that have shaped Southampton and the East End for generations.
