Two men riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles died in separate crashes in Manhattan and Staten Island during a five-hour span, police said Tuesday.
A 48-year-old man riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson uptown in the left lane of Manhattan’s FDR Drive failed to navigate a curve and hit a divider near E. 72nd St. on the Upper East Side about 11:55 p.m. Monday, police said.
He was thrown off his motorcycle and then run over by the driver of a passing black Cadillac Escalade, cops said.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. The 53-year-old man behind the wheel of the Escalade remained at the scene and faced no immediate charges.
Less than five hours later on Staten Island, a 22-year-old man was riding a Harley-Davidson on Armstrong Ave. in Great Kills when he got into a head-on collision with the driver of a Ford Fusion near Arthur Kill Road.
The 54-year-old man driving the Ford was turning left onto Armstrong Ave. when the 4:30 a.m. crash occurred.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his ride and suffered a massive head injury.
Medics rushed him to Staten Island University Hospital North, where he died.
The driver of the Ford Fusion remained at the scene and was not immediately charged.
The names of the two victims were not immediately released.
The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate both crashes.
