A 7 train rider was struck and killed at the 90th Street-Elmhurst Avenue subway station in Jackson Heights on Monday evening.
Police from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights and Transit District 20 responded to a 911 call at around 6:40 p.m. after the victim on the northbound platform made contact with the train, fell from the platform and became trapped beneath a subway car, according to authorities.
Power was shut down for about an hour as emergency teams worked to extricate the injured man and 7 train service was suspended from the 74th Street-Broadway transit hub in Jackson Heights to the Flushing-Main Street subway station.

Witnesses along Roosevelt Avenue claimed they saw police collecting body parts found between vehicles parked beneath the station, but an NYPD spokeswoman could not confirm that.

EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing. The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
