When Jesse Bodine arrived as district manager of Manhattan Community Board 4 (MCB4) in late 2014, the neighborhood was given a memorable introduction to its new civic wrangler.

Christine Berthet, then chair of the board, said at his first meeting that Bodine had the “widest match of skills” among more than 40 applicants. Then came the line that has aged into near-perfect Hell’s Kitchen comedy: “With his Peace Corps management in the wilds of Africa, we had a feeling this wild MCB4 area with all of its people would be right up his alley.”
