A stacked three-band bill featuring Signs of the Swarm, Paleface Swiss, and Lorna Shore brought moshing, crowdsurfing, and everything else that comes with a deathcore show to New York City last week.

“Get the f*ck up!” yelled Signs of the Swarm vocalist David Simonich as his band kicked off their performance with “To Rid Myself of Truth,” though the phrase would be a common theme throughout the night. The venue wasn’t full yet, but that didn’t stop fans from opening up the mosh pit nearly immediately as the music began that night. Under the ornate ceilings of the Brooklyn Paramount, fans jumped, ran, and collided as they heard songs from the band’s latest release, To Rid Myself of Truth, as well as a sampling of songs from their earlier albums.

Following shortly after was a set by the aptly-named Swiss metal band Paleface Swiss, who quickly brought up the energy again.

“We’ve played [in NYC] a few times before, I know you can do it!” were Marc “Zelli” Zellweger’s words to encourage the audience as they took the stage for a 10-song set. The band released their EP, The Wilted, back in January, and they made sure to include a few songs from it in their opening set. Many of the other songs they played came from the band’s 2025 album CURSED, including “My Blood on Your Hands” and “Please End Me.” At one point, the crowd was told to “get on the shoulders of someone you love,” adding to the fun chaos amidst the already fast-paced crowdsurfing.

Then, to headline the night was, of course, New Jersey-based Lorna Shore, and they were ready to put on a show. Though they only technically played twelve songs, the set went on for around an hour and a half and was high energy from start to finish. The band started out with “Oblivion,” “Unbreakable,” and “War Machine” from their 2025 album I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me before going into “Sun//Eater” where lead vocalist Will Ramos invited up the band’s photographer and videographer Nick Chance to perform guest vocals (Chance also sings vocals in the band Beautiful Child of God when he’s not performing photo/video duties).

The middle of Lorna Shore’s set brought us songs like “In Darkness” and “Prison of Flesh” before Ramos introduced the “last songs” of the night: the three-song trilogy from their 2022 album Pain Remains. Ramos, guitarist Adam De Micco, drummer Austin Archey, guitarist Andrew O’Connor, and bassist Michael Yager never faltered in their loud, heavy, and emotional sound, and this three-song run was the perfect way to wrap up the set before returning for the single-song encore of “To the Hellfire.”

Lorna Shore’s headlining tour wrapped up right after New York City with a hometown show in New Jersey, but the band returns to tour in July, supporting Motionless In White at amphitheatres across the U.S. You can see tour dates and get tickets for that on their official website.
