On a cloud-free and warm, sunny Thursday afternoon, hundreds of Rockefeller Center visitors lined up to see some of their favorite songs performed live at The Rink. Last week, visitors were treated to performances from Maybe Happy Ending, The Great Gatsby, and Operation Mincemeat. Here is a look at what happened on June 4 during Road to Broadway’s Act III presented in partnership with Playbill.
Pamela Adlon and Eric McCormack of Celebrity Autobiography served as hosts for the day. The duo warmed up the audience with some cute banter about McCormack’s previous Broadway roles and how Adlon is making her debut in Celebrity Autobiography. The afternoon concert opened with MJ The Musical, led by the current MJ, Matte Martinez. He was joined by Christopher Sean Cooper, Sasha Allen, John Edwards, Brett Gray, Nyla Sostre, Apollo Levine, and Sheldon Henry. They treated guests to familiar favorites “I’ll Be There” and “Man in the Mirror.”
The cast of The Book of Mormon, currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, was up next. Tony Moreno, Jack Baugh, and Kristen Jeter delighted audiences with “You and Me (But Mostly Me)” and “Baptize Me.”
The Outsiders performed next, with Noah Pacht, Caleb Mathura, Dan Berry, and Sutton James Kaylor singing “Far Away From Tulsa” and “Throwing in the Towel.”
Closing out the concert was Moulin Rouge! The Musical. The show’s Satine and Christian, Kelsie Watts and Christian Douglas—along with ensemble cast Sarah Bowden, Rayven Bailey, Donnie Hammond, and Jeigh Madjus—performed a trio of song: “Lady M,” “Come What May,” and “Firework.”

June 11: The Finale
Playbill has teamed up with Rockefeller Center to present a month-long concert series titled Road to Broadway. The noon concert will feature free Broadway performances at The Rink at Rockefeller Center, transforming the space into an open-air stage. Featuring live performances from some of Broadway’s biggest shows, each week will offer a distinct theme and exciting lineup.
All performances take place between 12PM and 1PM—be sure to arrive early and get the best spot for seeing all your favorite shows! Please note that all performances are subject to change.
