The New York City civil service exam schedule is open for June, and some jobs pay more than others.

The application period for exams opened June 3.

Exam applications currently open include: administrative energy conservation specialist; associate inspector (electrical); city assessor; consultant (early childhood education); energy conservation specialist; environmental engineer; inspector (consumer and worker protection); management auditor trainee; police communications technician; police officer; and radio repair mechanic.

Additionally, the NYC Bridge Exam is open in June, which allows job seekers to apply for one or more careers in the same applications. Applications include: child protective specialist; clerical associate; clerical associate (NYC H+H); maintenance worker; secretary; secretary (NYC H+H); and secretary (prom).

Most of these exams have a deadline of June 23, with some having later or earlier deadlines.

The deadline for police officer closes on June 15, while the deadline for police communications technician closes on June 30.

The starting salary for each career varies, according to the city.

Open, competitive, computer-based tests are administered throughout each month for various positions. If you meet the basic requirements of the job, you can apply for your exam online at Online Application System or at one of the Computer-Based Testing and Application Centers.

Administrative energy conservation specialist

Salary: Salaries will be consistent with the level of responsibility for the assignment and will be consistent with the Managerial Pay Plan.

Associate inspector (electrical)

Salary: $63,898 per annum for a 35-hr work week

Job description: Associate Inspectors (Electrical) under direction, perform highly technical and/or supervisory work in the inspection of electrical installations, repairs, or alterations for conformance to codes, rules, laws, plans, or specifications. All Associate Inspectors (Electrical) perform related work. City assessor

Child protective specialist
