by Take advantage of the warm weather to get outside and explore the architectural and social history of Brooklyn. The Municipal Art Society is offering three tours this month, each focusing on a different neighborhood.
Modern Times in North Brooklyn Heights
Thursday, June 11
6-8 p.m.
While Brooklyn Heights conjures visions of wood frames and row houses, there is modern architecture to be found. Join historian Matt Postal for an evening tour past buildings constructed before and after the 1965 designation of the historic district. Tickets are $35 and $25 for MAS members and tickets can be purchased online.
Defining Crown Heights North
Saturday, June 27
2-4 p.m.
Brownstoner columnist Suzanne Spellen continues her focus on individual streets within the Crown Heights North neighborhood with this afternoon tour. Participants will walk by buildings designed by notable 19th century Brooklyn architects as well as get a dash of the modern with a look at a 1960s project. Tickets are $35 and $25 for MAS members and can be purchased online.
South Williamsburg
Sunday, June 28
11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Join Zach Rhodes for a wander through South Williamsburg and a swing by some of its notable sites while learning more about the rich immigrant history of the neighborhood. Tickets are $35 and $25 for MAS members and can be purchased online.
