Eliud Kipchoge debuted at his first New York City Marathon – which he has hinted will be his last World Marathon Major race – in 17th place on Sunday, 2 November, 6:27 minutes behind compatriot and race winner Benson Kipruto.

Running this marathon major for the first time in his career, the Kenyan athletics legend crossed the finish line in Central Park in a time of 02:14:36 to complete his quest for the Seven Star Hall of Fame.

Kipchoge, who turns 41 in three days, has previously completed the Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin and Chicago marathons, winning the marathon majors on 11 occasions.

The 2025 New York Marathon marked his first race on the famously hilly and twisty course, and also the first time he opted to race three marathon majors in one year.

On 31 August, he completed the 2025 Sydney Marathon in ninth place.
