6/9; 11:48 a.m.—A body was found near Lock 22 on Wood Creek Road in the Town of Verona, according to New York State Police.
Law enforcement responded to the end of Wood Creek Rd. at about 2 p.m. on June 7, after a caller discovered an unidentified deceased person.
“Investigators believe the deceased may be connected to a missing person case reported to the Rome Police Department on May 24, 2026,” according to NYSP.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the identity of the deceased.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause and manner of death.
Police believe this is an isolated case and there is no known threat to the public.

DURHAMVILLE, N.Y. — A large police presence has been seen near Lock 22 in Durhamville.
Law enforcement has been at the scene since at least 6:45 a.m., and a tent has been set up.
No information has been released yet, but officials said more details may be shared as early as this afternoon.
