Knicks Fans React to Unprecedented Game 4 Comeback WinAfter New York stunned San Antonio to complete the largest rally in N.B.A. finals history, The Athletic spoke with Knicks fans outside Madison Square Garden.

It was the best! We were down by 29 points. And we came back from OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson, baby! I don’t even have the words I blacked out. Craziest night of my life. This is one of the happiest days of my life. It’s been crazy. I just watched a 30-point comeback. I mean, I can’t I still can’t believe this is real life. Yo, I have never experienced anything like this in the history of me being alive. I’ve been alive for 21 years. The most amazing sporting event I’ve ever seen. And I was in the Garden when Willis [Reed] came out in Game 7 in 1970. Is this the best supporting moment of your life? The best! It was very exciting. It was very stressful. It was my first N.B.A. game, actually, and I was, like, freaking out. The best feeling of our life. You will never feel. We’ve been to a million sports things in our life and this was the best. Nothing will ever top this. The kid next to me left and said he’s going to get the early train. I feel so bad for him. He’s definitely possibly jumped off the bridge right now. It was absolutely life-changing. It was the greatest sports moment I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t think I’ll ever reach that joy in a sports moment like I just did. What would a Knicks championship mean to you? The world. To be with my son, who is my best friend. This is my best friend. We just like, you know, we love this moment together. My dad, who made me a Knicks fan, I lost him six months ago. I’m so sorry. A massive heart attack. And he died, actually, the night the Knicks won the N.B.A. Cup. And I, you know, had in my head and they came back. And honestly, it meant everything to me. It’d be probably the best thing that’s happened since that horrible day. That was 53 years of pent up frustration to now be one win away from basketball immortality. There is not a fan base in professional sports, in all the sports that deserved a win like that, than the New York Knick fan.
