On the far east side of the neighborhood facing Saratoga Park, the formerly Romanesque Revival style row house at 811 Halsey Street sports a new Italianate style brownstone exterior.

A map of 1898 shows the 18.75-foot-wide brownstone is part of a small row of houses already in place on a largely empty block front. An early owner advertised the dwelling in 1900 as an elegant house with a “superior hardwood interior,” gas logs, colonial mantels, and awnings.

At the front of this unit is the living room, formerly a dining room, which retains original wainscoting and a columned wood mantel. Open to the living room via a wide doorway, the kitchen manages to fit a dishwasher into an l-shaped corner arrangement along with white cabinetry.

The bedroom is at the rear of the unit. A glass door opens into the space, which has two windows and a niche outfitted with a closet system. There is also access to the rear yard.

There is a black and white scheme in the renovated bathroom, with a black tile floor and white subway tile. Laundry is in a closet across from the bathroom.

While there isn’t a floor plan with the listing, a virtual tour of the already renovated unit dating from the last time the house was on the market in 2020 gives an idea of the setup.

The fenced-in rear yard includes a raised wood deck with room for seating and dining. There looks to be plenty of room for gardening for those with a green thumb.
