New York City is today launching a “$26 for 2026” dining special at almost 600 businesses across the city, encouraging residents and visitors alike to take advantage of low-cost meal and drink deals throughout the five boroughs during the World Cup.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, NYC Tourism + Conventions and the NYNJ Host Committee announced the “Five Boroughs Winners Special” last month, with the initiative now set to kick off as the tournament opens with Mexico taking on South Africa on June 11. The $26 deals, which are available at almost 150 Queens locations, will be available through the World Cup final on July 19.
Participating establishments may offer any food or beverage special for $26, including prix-fixe menus, beverage-and-bite pairings, drink specials or other promotions. Participating businesses can also offer limited-edition commemorative cups with the purchase of a food or beverage item.
The cups feature a different design for each borough, with diners encouraged to collect all five cups and share their experiences on social media.
Businesses will also be featured on the Welcome World Rewards platform, allowing customers to earn points while supporting participating businesses.
“In New York City, you do not need an expensive ticket to be part of the World Cup. Our small businesses have some of the best seats in the house,” Mamdani said in a statement. “The Five Borough Winners Special will help working New Yorkers and visitors find a reliably priced place to eat and drink while driving more business into neighborhoods across our city.”
From Donovan’s in Woodside to Pig Beach BBQ in Astoria and from Pilot House Bar & Grill in Rockaway to Soothr in Long Island City, almost 150 restaurants, bars and organizations across Queens have signed up for the special offers. Many will be offering the special commemorative cups.
Julie Coker, CEO of NYC Tourism + Conventions, said the initiative aims to encourage global visitors to explore as much of the city as possible.
“From special promotions and discounts to giveaways and beyond, there are countless ways for business owners to get involved in the festivities and show off their World Cup spirit,” Coker said in a statement.
