The 2026 NBA Finals are headed back to San Antonio for Game 5, as the New York Knicks hold a 3-1 series lead and the opportunity to close out the series with a win over the Spurs Saturday night.
The Knicks are coming off a historic 29-point comeback in Game 4, rallying from a disappointing first-half performance to take the game, 107-106, thanks to clutch play from OG Anunoby and another 30-plus point performance from Jalen Brunson.

The Spurs went 14-of-26 from 3 in the first half for the most 3-pointers in a half in NBA Finals history, but a cold streak to close out the game (8 of 39 FG, 3 of 17 from 3) contributed to a historic collapse. Victor Wembanyama struggled late, shooting 21.4% from the field in the second half while missing two key free-throw attempts in the final two minutes, while De’Aaron Fox’s massive late-game blunder all but sealed the deal on the loss.
The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers are the only NBA Finals team to rally from a 3-1 deficit to win the championship; could the Spurs join them? It will take a win on Saturday night to keep those hopes alive.

De’Aaron Fox just shoved Josh Hart in the back under the basket without making a play on the ball. Hart converted a layup, and Hart was called on the floor for a personal foul.
Officials reviewed the play and correctly upgraded the foul to a flagrant 1. Hart hit the free throw for a 3-point play to cut San Antonio’s lead to 40-35. The Knicks retained possession and converted with a Mikal Bridges bucket for a 5-point possession.
Another bad look for Fox, who was the goat in San Antonio’s Game 4 loss.

The Spurs challenged, and officials determined that Towns actually committed an offensive foul with a hook on Wembanyama. Instead of Wembanyama having two fouls, Towns does, due to the successful challenge.

After the Knicks’ massive Game 4 comeback to take a 3-1 series lead, odds to win the NBA Finals have shifted massively toward New York to close it all out for their first championship since 1972.
Ahead of Game 5, the Knicks are now favored at -500 odds to win the NBA Finals (-184 ahead of Game 4), while the Spurs sit at +385 to win it all on FanDuel Sportsbook.
That translates to an 83.33% and 20.62% implied probability for each team, respectively.

Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals was a cathartic, potentially franchise-defining win for a long-suffering New York Knicks fan base. It seems not all of them reacted well.
A video circulating on social media appears to show a mob of Knicks fans greeting the San Antonio Spurs as they returned to their team hotel following their dramatic loss earlier Wednesday night. While most fans limited their engagement to heckling, the video shows objects being thrown at the team.
At least two projectiles are targeted at Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, who remains composed on his way in.
In the fallout of New York‘s victory on Wednesday, 15 people were arrested by the New York Police Department, which also released another 41 with criminal court summonses, according to The Athletic. Ten members of the NYPD were injured, police reportedly said, noting that one was hit in the head by a glass bottle.
Police, per The Athletic, said that, among the horde, people jumped on top of vehicles, tried to flip a taxi and climbed scaffolding, light poles, traffic lights and buildings and even broke into a tractor-trailer.
This is the second straight game in New York that has seen bad postgame behavior. After the Spurs’ win in Game 3, multiple videos showed Spurs fans getting attacked on the streets, with 21 people also arrested after a Bryant Park watch party devolved into chaos.

With the New York Knicks on the brink of the team’s first championship since 1973, Knicks fans are looking to give the team a home-town environment despite Game 5 being on the road. Knicks markets have accounted for 54% of all tickets sold ahead of the game, despite it taking place in San Antonio.
That figure comes via Gametime, and is a drastic departure from the number of Knicks fans who attended both Game 1 and Game 2 of the series, both of which were in San Antonio.
Only 17% of all tickets purchased for Game 1 came from Knicks markets, which include both New York and New Jersey, per Gametime’s data. That figure was 23% for Game 2.
When the series shifted to New York in Games 3 and 4, Knicks fans did a tremendous job keeping San Antonio Spurs fans out of Madison Square Garden. Spurs markets accounted for just 1% of all tickets sold for both Game 3 and Game 4.
But with the Knicks in a spot to close things out in Game 5, interest from New York and New Jersey markets has skyrocketed. Forty-one percent of all tickets sold for Game 5 have been purchased in New York. Thirteen percent have been purchased in New Jersey. By comparison, Texas has accounted for just 12% of all ticket sales for Game 5.
