STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — At one point during a drug investigation centered around then prominent caterer Ettore Mazzei, there was a brief, in-person exchange between the suspect and a detective who was surveilling him, according to testimony delivered last week in court.

Detective Arthur Truscelli testified that in March 2024, he was alerted by a fellow detective about an alleged incident that occurred near the 700 block of Bay Street in Stapleton, steps from multiple commercial and residential properties owned by Mazzei.
