After years of advocacy, a bill intended to a protect children during divorce or custody proceedings has been approved by the state Legislature. It’s named for a little girl whose mother says her murder at the hands of her own father took place because she was not protected by the state’s legal system. Also, a group of disability rights advocates filed a lawsuit last week against New York’s Medical Aid in Dying Act, which is set to go into effect on Aug. 5. Denise Figueroa, one of the plaintiffs in the case, joined Capital Tonight.
