Here comes the general — again! Christopher Jackson will return to Hamilton on Broadway this fall, reprising his Tony Award-nominated performance as George Washington from September 8 to January 3 only.
Jackson originated the role of Washington in the show both off and on Broadway, for which he won a Grammy Award as a featured vocalist on the cast album and earned his first Tony nomination. His onscreen credits include And Just Like That…, Bull, and When They See Us. He also earned an Emmy Award for composing the original song “What I Am” for Sesame Street.
“Returning to Hamilton as George Washington is a deeply meaningful homecoming,” said Jackson in a statement. “This show changed my life, and it remains one of the great honors of my career to be part of telling this story. To step back into this room, with this company and this audience, is something I will never take for granted.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton sets the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton to a rap and hip-hop score. The Tony, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning phenomenon celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2025, for which another original cast member, Leslie Odom, Jr., returned to the show last fall.
