New York City food halls have their respective formats but the latest addition is situated within the former Lord & Taylor flagship building along Fifth Avenue. It will also hold a 200-foot cheese conveyor belt and a carousel of plates of charcuterie and locally sourced condiments.
Opening on June 26, Shaver Hall will introduce a new dining and entertainment destination on the lower level of this Midtown Manhattan landmark. Shaver Hall is named for Dorothy Shaver, the trailblazing president of Lord & Taylor.
On the street level of this building, now also Amazon’s largest New York City corporate office, the 35,000-square-foot food hall will bring together 11 chef-driven eateries, three full-service restaurants, two bars and a modern bodega with a 20-tap beer wall. It will be located on the building’s street-level space, which Amazon dedicated to public retail use.
“The eatery lineup was intentionally curated to showcase a mix of traditional local favorites, emerging culinary talent, and acclaimed chefs, creating a destination that reflects the diversity and energy of New York City’s dining scene,” said Jack Gibbons, CEO of FB Society, which developed this concept. “We want guests to enjoy everything from a quick breakfast or lunch to a dinner experience. “
In introducing its lineup of culinary options, Shaver Hall will have three full-service restaurants.
