Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), who was scheduled to make her Broadway debut in the hit musical & Juliet June 18 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, joined the production a few days earlier than originally announced.
Metz, who made her New York stage debut in a benefit reading of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig for
MCC in 2017, stepped into the role of Angelique June 16 for a limited
engagement through September 13. She succeeded Tony nominee Jeannette Bayardelle.

“I’m so excited to be making my Broadway debut, and to do
it in a show that is this joyful feels like an absolute dream come
true,” Metz said in an earlier statement. “I think some of the hardest working,
most creative people work in live theatre and well, Broadway scares me
to bits, which is why I have always wanted to do it. Pray for me!”

Metz joins a cast that includes Gianna Harris as
Juliet, Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart as Lance, Alison Luff as Anne,
Drew Gehling as Shakespeare, Michael Iván Carrier as May, Liam Pearce
as Romeo, and Nathan Levy as François.
Gabe Amato, Daniel Assetta, Reese Britts, Nicholas Cooper,
Jhailyn Paige Farcon, Laurie Hernandez, Makai Hernandez, Joomin Hwang,
Elsa Keefe, Alaina Ví Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Mackenzie Meadows,
Esosa Oviasu, Cassie Silva, TJ Tapp, Zalah Vallien, Darien Van
Rensalier, and Romy Vuksan complete the cast.
Nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, & Juliet flips
the script on the William Shakespeare classic, imagining what would
happen next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo. Featuring a book
by David West Read, the score includes famous pop songs written by Max
Martin, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and
“Confident.”

The production also has direction by Luke Sheppard,
choreography by Jennifer Weber, musical supervision, orchestrations, and
arrangements by Bill Sherman, scenic design by Soutra Gilmour, costume
design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design
by Gareth Owen, video projection design by Andrzej Goulding, hair, wig,
and makeup design by J. Jared Janas, and musical direction and
additional orchestrations by Dominic Fallacaro.
U.S. casting is by Stephen Kopel and Carrie Gardner.
The international hit, which opened at the Sondheim
November 17, 2022 following a run in the West End, was the first new
musical of the 2022–2023 Broadway season to announce its recoupment.
The musical will celebrate its 1,500th performance at the Sondheim June 23.
