Justin Trudeau will speak at Queens University of Charlotte on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement. The former Canadian prime minister will give a lecture titled “Navigating Change, Empowering Progress: A Roadmap for Leaders Committed to Community and Democracy” as part of the Learning Society’s semiannual speaker series.
The talk will cover how technology and crises are reshaping community life and democratic institutions. Trudeau will draw on his decade as Canada’s 23rd prime minister to share practical strategies for building resilient, inclusive communities.
“His experience navigating high-stakes international diplomacy and domestic challenges provides our students and the broader Charlotte community with a rare, first-hand perspective on the resilience required to lead during a time of unprecedented global challenges and change,” said Jesse Cureton, acting president of Queens University of Charlotte, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Trudeau served as prime minister from 2015 to 2025. During his 10 years leading Canada’s Liberal Party, he led the country through the COVID-19 pandemic, trade disputes with the U.S., and its involvement in the invasion of Ukraine.
He received awards for his commitment to global change and environmental protection. His tenure ended in 2025 after a decade at the helm of the Canadian government.
The Learning Society has brought speakers to Charlotte since 1988. The organization seeks to connect lifelong learners with the next generation of leaders.
Past speakers included Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Steve Forbes. Venus Williams will speak at the organization’s February 2027 event.
Tickets will be available for purchase in August. The event will take place in the Sandra Levine Theatre inside the Gambrell Center.
