West 85th Street and Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side is so dense with prime voting Democrats that the intersection had a gravitational pull on candidates for New York’s 12th Congressional District.

“We’re getting an incredibly positive reaction from a ton of voters coming out to vote, and it’s been all over the district,” Micah Lasher, a candidate and state lawmaker from the Upper West Side, said.

The top candidates criticized President Trump’s deal with Iran

Lasher campaigned with fellow West Sider, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal.

“This is the prime spot here on the Upper West Side here,” Hoylman-Sigal said. “It’s great to meet voters and the enthusiasm for Micah Lasher is kind of off the charts.”

Social media influencer Jack Schlossberg says his pitch to reinvigorate the Democratic Party has been playing well with an older crowd, in addition to his younger supporters.

“Our base of support is from older voters who understand the need for a new generation to take over, who believe in the same old values of the Democratic Party, but want to reinvigorate our party with energy,” Schlossberg said.

Alex Bores, an Upper East Side state lawmaker, spoke to voters about his work on AI regulation, his signature issue. He also spoke to voters about the spending by tech companies against him.

“I think having three Trump mega-donors targeting you with $10 million in negative advertising is a pretty clarifying thing for voters,” Bores said.

George Conway, an attorney whose sole campaign issue is impeaching President Donald Trump, said he was glad he entered the race — his first political campaign.

Meanwhile, NY1 got the candidates on record about Trump’s deal with Iran — an important issue in a district with a sizable Jewish voter base.

“The deal is a disaster. I think the war was a disaster,” Lasher said.

Schlossberg called it “a giveaway” to Iran.

“The only enforcement mechanism against a nuclear weapon is more bombing from President Trump,” Schlossberg said. “We are unfreezing their assets, removing sanctions. We’ve given them the ultimate leverage in the Strait of Hormuz.”

“It seems like we’re ending up in a worse deal than the place we were before,” Bores said.

Conway called it “trash.”

“It’s never gonna stick and we shouldn’t be paying the Iranians $300 billion, full stop,” Conway said.
