Nancy Packes of Rhinebeck died at home on June 18, 2026. Her son Seth Rosner was with her.
Nancy earned a law degree from New York University. She practiced trial law for seven years before starting a career in real estate. In 1977, she founded a brokerage company, Feathered Nest, which she sold to Terra Holdings in 1998. She then founded Nancy Packes Inc., a real estate consulting firm specializing in design development, marketing, leasing, and sales of new residential developments.
Over the subsequent 30 years, Nancy worked with many developers, including Forest City Ratner and Douglaston Development, and also brought her son Seth into the business. She is remembered for her considerable contributions to the real estate industry, including helping establish REBNY’s ethics guidelines and changing the way buildings and apartments were designed, marketed, and leased.
She is survived by a son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was a loving mother-in-law and grandmother to Sloane and Stella, and she cherished time with her family: Warren, Charles, Donna, Bessie, Michelle, Warren III, Grant, Hudson, Caroline, Charlie, Samantha, and Billy. She also leaves behind a city changed for the better by her work and her love for it.
Friends and family may call at Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Rhinebeck on Saturday, June 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. A service will start at 4:30 p.m.
