Lakeshore flood warning issued for Jefferson County, wet week ahead for North Country

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A lakeshore flood warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday for Jefferson County as a wet weather pattern settles over the North Country through early next week.

Friday will see mostly cloudy skies early before becoming mostly sunny, with windy conditions across Jefferson County. West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected this afternoon. Highs will range from the mid 60s on the Tug Hill to around 70 across lower elevations.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday evening across much of the region, with rain chances ranging from 50 percent in Jefferson County to near 100 percent in northern St. Lawrence County. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 50s across the Tug Hill and upper 50s along the Lake Ontario shore.

Saturday brings an 80 to 100 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms across the North Country. Showers are expected in the morning, with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. Highs will range from the lower 60s on the Tug Hill to around 70 across lower elevations.

The wet pattern continues Sunday with a 50 to 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s across the region.

Monday and Monday night will see the highest rain chances of the week, with showers likely and rain chances between 70 and 80 percent. Highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Conditions begin to improve Tuesday through Thursday, though scattered showers remain possible each day. Rain chances drop to 30 to 50 percent, with highs climbing into the mid 70s by midweek.
