MELROSE, The Bronx — Firefighters found a body in the rubble of a three-alarm house fire in Melrose, according to the FDNY.
A spokesperson for the department said a right-side wall collapsed in what started as a 2nd-alarm fire and was quickly upgraded to a third just after 2:30 p.m. Friday at 794 East 160th St. in Melrose.

The initial call was for a heavy fire on the second floor of the two-story private home between Trinity and Jackson Avenues. The fire extended to an adjoining building, according to officials.
The fire was under control two hours and nearly 200 FDNY personnel later, but one person was found dead during operations.
Officials did not release the deceased’s identity and are working to find the cause of the fire.
