Tuesday, June 23 is primary day in New York. In the North Country, two Republican candidates are vying to receive their party’s nomination to run for Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik’s 21st Congressional seat. Data will be updated as soon as the polls close at 9 p.m. Retired Marine Corps Col. and current New York State Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R-118) is running in the primary against Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino.Both men said they are running on a pro-MAGA platform. While Constantino has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, Smullen is also a MAGA Republican, and was appointed to the President’s Commission on White House Fellows in 2018 by Trump.The winner of the Republican primary will be vying to keep the 21st Congressional District red. If a Democrat were to win the seat, it could flip the district blue for the first time in more than a decade, and could upset the slight Republican majority in the House.
