PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Voters in New York’s North Country are hitting the polls Tuesday to decide who will run in the November general election, including the candidates for the 21st Congressional District.
That race is to fill the seat vacated by Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.

The Democratic primary features Lake Placid business owner Stuart Amoriell and dairy farmer Blake Gendebien.
On the Republican side, businessman Anthony Constantino is running against Assemblyman Robert Smullen.
Voters in Plattsburgh said it is important to be part of the democratic process and have a say in who represents them in Congress.
“I’ve been telling my kids from when they were little, you have to vote because you can’t complain if you don’t use your voice to make choices. And I want them to always make the best choices that they can, so that starts with voting,” said Desiree Kirk of Plattsburgh.
The winners of Tuesday’s election will face off this fall to fill Rep. Elise Stefanik’s seat.
Polls will be open until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
