Incumbent U.S. Rep. Grace Meng clinched the District 6 Democratic primary after securing nearly 57% of the vote in the race against challenger Chuck Park.
“I feel great,” Meng said to her supporters at an election night watch party in Flushing. “I’m very grateful to the community — everyone worked really hard. It was a rainy day, but I think we really showed our love for the community, and that they want me to continue to do the work that I’ve been doing.”
As of 10:25 p.m., Meng has received 18,080 (56.9%) votes compared to Chuck Park, her opponent, who received 13,625 (42.8%). That is a 14.1% difference in votes.
The watch party – held at Prime Met Steakhouse in downtown Flushing – was filled with a sea of blue-and-orange shirts in honor of the Knicks that say “Grace Meng for Congress.” Cheers could be heard throughout the rooftop when the Associated Press called the race at 9:19 p.m.

“Tonight, Queens spoke, and I am humbled and grateful for the trust this community has placed in me,” said Meng. “Over the past several years, we have delivered real investments — for our families, our schools, our small businesses, and our NYCHA communities — and tonight the people of Queens clearly said ‘keep going.’”
Meng currently serves as the only Asian-American Congress Member hailing from New York. Meng wears many hats, including chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and a co-chair of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism.
“This victory belongs to every volunteer, organizer, and neighbor who believed that the work we’ve been doing together matters, and I want to congratulate Chuck Park on running a hard and spirited campaign,” said Meng. “November is next, and I am asking every New Yorker who believes in what we’re fighting for to stay engaged, show up, and help us take back Congress so we can take back this country from Donald Trump and his corrupt regime.”
Congressional District 6 encompasses Auburndale, Bayside, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, Flushing, Forest Hills, Glendale, Kew Gardens, Maspeth, Middle Village, Murray Hill, Woodside and Rego Park, amongst other places. The position has been held by Meng since 2013 – now, this will be her eighth term in Congress.
QNS reached out to Park’s campaign for comment and is waiting for a response.
