Barrett, Tweed win Democratic primaries for Assembly seats

State Assemblymember Didi Barrett will win the Democratic primary for New York’s 106th Assembly District, the Associated Press declared.

Barrett wins with 73% of the vote over primary challenger Samuel Hodge, who had 26.9%, with 97% of the estimated vote counted.

The incumbent was first elected to represent the district in March 2012.

The 106th district includes Columbia and Dutchess counties. 

She will face Republican Gregory Campus in the general election.

The Associated Press also declared Janet Tweed will win the Democratic nomination in the race for New York’s 102nd Assembly District.

Tweed defeated Mary Finneran and Thomas Boomhower in Tuesday’s primary elections. As of the latest unofficial results, Tweed had 46.2% of the vote to Boomhower’s 28% and Finneran’s 25.7%, with 85% of the estimated vote counted.

She will face Republican Marc Molinaro, a former congressman and 2018 gubernatorial candidate, in the general election.

The 102nd district includes Schoharie and Greene counties.

Election Day is Nov. 3.
