Brooklyn Public Library is celebrating the 30th anniversary of “Reasonable Doubt,” the debut album from legendary rapper Jay-Z, with a special library card that will be available for a limited time.

The JAŸ-Z 30 Limited Edition Library Card will be available at Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) locations starting June 25. The cards will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The card is the result of a partnership between Roc Nation, the full-service entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, and the Brooklyn Public Library system.

Marcy Library will also host an exclusive bookshelf featuring titles from Jay-Z’s reading list. The books, donated by Roc Nation, include “In the Black Fantastic” by Ekow Eshun and “The World Atlas of Street Fashion” by Caroline Cox, among many others. The works are among those Jay-Z has cited as inspirational throughout his journey from a Brooklyn kid to an internationally recognized musician and businessperson.

This isn’t the first time BPL has celebrated the legendary rapper and entrepreneur. The Book of HOV library card collection was released in 2023 in conjunction with an exhibit of the same name. That collection consisted of 13 unique designs inspired by a variety of the rapper’s projects.

More than 600,000 people visited a BPL location for the 2023 exhibit and more than 36,000 people signed up for a new library account. The Central Library also saw 74% more activity during that time and while this year’s collaboration may not feature an exhibit, there will surely be demand for the exclusive library cards.

The new collaboration comes ahead of a highly anticipated run of shows that Jay-Z will perform at Yankee Stadium this summer. He is scheduled to perform July 10 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, July 11 to mark the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, and July 12 for a third show added to accommodate overwhelming demand.

The shows sold out almost instantly, and demand for tickets on resale markets remains high.
