NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Bronx man is accused of stealing over $400,000 from multiple residents at a senior living residence on the Upper West Side, using the money to purchase luxury items and vacations, according to officials.
Devon Ragnauth, 38, faces multiple felony charges, including grand larceny, fraud, identity theft, and criminal possession of stolen property, according to court documents.

From January 2021 through at least July 4, 2025, the defendant allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from 21 residents at the senior home where he was employed. Ragnauth worked in the business office and often had access to checks written to the residence, according to court documents.
During this period, Ragnauth allegedly stole 143 checks totaling over $240,000 from a 92-year-old resident in cognitive decline.
The checks were issued from the victim’s bank account to a legitimate third-party home care agency. However, the victim never received services from that company; instead, the checks were allegedly deposited into Ragnauth’s personal account, according to court documents.
Additionally, Ragnauth also intercepted hundreds of other checks and deposited them into accounts held by family members, according to court documents.
In the fall of 2022, a resident’s family member complained that a check had gone missing and appeared to have been deposited into Ragnauth’s personal account. The defendant then provided falsified bank statements and deposit slips to the senior living residence to hide the fact he had stolen the check, according to court documents,
“The defendant callously exploited his position in a senior living community to allegedly steal from nearly two dozen elderly New Yorkers,” said District Attorney Bragg. “One of the alleged victims was 92 years of age. Financial loss for older individuals can be absolutely devastating, and we will continue to use every tool available to address and prevent these types of pernicious schemes.”
PIX11 News attempted to reach multiple phone numbers listed under Ragnauth’s name. He was not available to comment.
The senior home where Ragnauth worked issued the following statement to PIX: “We are aware that a former employee has been arrested. When we became aware of the employee’s actions, we terminated the employee and have been working with local law enforcement during their investigation. “
Details about Ragnauth’s next court date have not been provided. If convicted of the most serious charge, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
