WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (WNYT)- Two men from New York City were arrested after the Williamstown Police Department says they were trying to break into an ATM.

Police say Manuel Antonio Moguea-Gutierrez, 23, from Brooklyn and Roberto Flores Zabaleta, 20, from New York were attempting to break into the ATM at Community Bank, 273 Main Street, using a technique called “jackpotting” on Saturday, June 20.
Moguea-Gutierrez and Zabaleta were found by police with digital equipment and tools allegedly used to access and modify ATMs in order to steal money.

“These arrests indicate how regional, multi-state and even international criminal activity can impact our community,” Williamstown Police Chief Michael Ziemba said. “The persons arrested this weekend appear to be part of a larger criminal organization that perpetrates financial crimes on a wide scale.”
Police say they worked with bank security in order to apprehend Moguea-Gutierrez and Zabaleta. Chief Ziemba said, Williamstown police will continue to investigate with the help of state and federal agencies.
