But over these last few weeks, New York City has rallied around the Knicks and unified our communities in a way we haven’t seen before when it comes to sports. And with the Knicks winning their first NBA championship in 53 years, you know Queens is going to be celebrating all summer long. The ‘Knicks in 5’ chants aren’t stopping with last week’s massive ticker tape parade up the Canyon of Heroes. On Thursday, June 25, my office is going to be holding its own celebration in honor of our hometown heroes here in The World’s Borough. So wear your Knicks gear, practice those chants, and join us that afternoon at 3pm as we host a championship rally and flag raising celebration on the steps of Queens Borough Hall in Kew Gardens. After decades of ‘there’s always next year,’ it is finally the year for us Knicks fans.
