Mayor Zohran Mamdani just announced five additional “Soccer Streets” World Cup watch parties in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. It’s the latest addition to a citywide effort that’s already put more than 100 free public watch parties in neighborhoods across all five boroughs for the World Cup.
Soccer Streets World Cup Watch Parties
Run by the NYC Department of Transportation, the program is turning everyday streets, plazas, and public spaces into gathering spots where people can watch World Cup matches together.
Instead of a formal stadium-style setup, it is meant to feel more like a neighborhood block party with big screens showing the game, music and performances, and space for families to hang out, grab food, and watch the match.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani described the watch parties as a way to bring people together across different backgrounds, saying they’ve been helping neighbors connect over shared excitement for the world’s game. He added that the goal is to make sure New Yorkers can feel part of the World Cup without having to leave their own neighborhoods.
DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez Flynn also highlighted the community response, noting how powerful it’s been to see families and neighbors gathering in streets and plazas throughout the summer to celebrate together.

Brooklyn
Osborn Plaza
Osborn St., from Belmont Ave. to the dead end
June 26, 2 pm
Fogo Azul opens the afternoon with a performance before the Norway vs France match at 3 pm. If you want to make a full day of it, a guided bike ride with Black Girls Do Bike is happening beforehand.
Kensington Plaza
Beverley Road from Church Ave. to East Second St.
July 7, 3 pm
ADVANCE/MORE Opera brings live performance to the plaza before the 4 pm match (W85 vs W87)
Manhattan
Johnny Hartman Plaza
Hamilton Place from West 143 St. to Amsterdam Ave.
July 2, 2 pm
Sambuco Tribe performs ahead of the 3 pm matchup (1H vs 2J), setting the tone for kickoff.
Brooklyn Bridge Arches Plaza
Rose St., from Avenue of the Finest to Frankfort St.
July 10, 2 pm
Another Fogo Azul performance leads into the 3 pm game (W93 vs W94). Bike valet will be available through Transportation Alternatives.
Queens
Corona Plaza
Roosevelt Avenue from National St. to 104th St.
July 15, 1:30 pm
The Queensboro Dance Festival performs ahead of the 3 pm match (W99 vs W100), turning the plaza into a pre-game celebration of music and dance.
Each event also includes programming from groups like Hive Public Space and The Horticultural Society of New York
